Launch Announcement: Inclusive Science Communication Sharing Branch
Rockmanor Research Canada is proud to launch the Inclusive Science Communication Sharing Branch. Our first initiative within this branch is the Rockmanor Spaces for Communicating Science in Indigenous Languages. This is a special section that aims to support researchers in making their work more accessible to Indigenous communities through the development of a dedicated resource.
Background:
Research grants in Canada are increasingly providing funding to translate scientific research and abstracts into Indigenous languages for the purpose of knowledge sharing. However, many researchers are unsure which academic or knowledge-sharing platforms accept lay abstracts in Indigenous languages. Lay abstracts refer to content written in plain language that is understandable to non-experts or non-scientists.
Rockmanor Research Canada is addressing this gap by creating a resource for researchers in Canada and beyond. This resource will identify academic journals and reputable, evidence-valuing platforms across multiple disciplines that accept lay abstracts in Indigenous languages to support inclusive knowledge sharing.
We invite you to contact us if you are interested in using this service or if you would like to collaborate with us on this project.
Access to the resource will be via user-based licensed subscriptions, and a service fee paid to Rockmanor Research Canada that supports development and sustainability to keep the resource updated.
